Although D-Link does not appear to be claiming Wave2 MU-MIMO or VHT160 (VHT80+80) support in its marketing literature for this product, the QCA9888 chip should support these features and the Test Report NII document at the FCC mentions VHT80+80 support for 802.11ac. FCC documents also cover the, as yet unreleased, D-Link DIR-843 rev A1 model which may have been intended to be differentiated from this DIR-842 by enabling these features in software.

The default SSID format for the device would seem to be dlink- followed by the last two octets of the MAC indicated on the label.
